It's time for another weekend event! This weekend we are releasing the "assassin mask" in both the Open World and Survival game-mode. Next to this there is a double XP event in all the official Oregon servers, mirror fields has the double speed feature enabled and we are doing another zombie loot upgrade event where normal zombies drop better and more loot.

Now, let's jump into further details about this weekend's weekend event:

Oregon Double XP (OW + SURV)
All official-only Oregon servers have double experience enabled. This means all experience gained while playing on these servers for this weekend only is doubled. This goes for both the Survival and Open World game-mode.
AssassinMask Collect Event (OW + SURV)
During this weekend the never released assassin mask is spawning and so collectable in both the Open World and Survival game-mode. The mask spawns anywhere, even from zombies and super zombies but it has a rare chance to spawn. Collect as many as you can because the mask is only available for this weekend! We have also added the mask to the Battle Royale loot tables for the weekend only!
Mirror Fields Double Speed (PVP)
Double speed is enabled on all Mirror Fields PVP servers. This means players will be able to move twice as fast compared to how fast they normally move.
Zombie Loot Upgrade (OW + SURV)
For this weekend only zombie loot has been upgraded. This means that the chances for zombies dropping NO items have been decreased, and in both the Open World and Survival game-mode new temporary items have been added. Zombies will overall be worth to farm a lot more than outside of this event. Enjoy!

Dear Community,

It's time for another update and this time a lot more aimed towards beginning players where we have added tutorial screens, more translations and more language support over all. Next to all of this we are patching in the new "Tech" skins with the Tech Skinbox. We are also rolling out this update to patch in content for the upcoming Easter 2020 event. More information about that event will be released in the near future.

For now, let's get in to the patch notes.

GENERAL:

Added various new content for the upcoming Easter 2020 event. Easter secret spots have been added to all maps. Please note that once again these spots are already showing in the game but won't be spawning any loot until the Easter 2020 event starts.
All the beginner missions that activate when joining the beginner training map are now translated in all available languages.
The in-game chat font has been updated to a different one that supports more languages including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai and more. There will no longer be weird block icons showing when using characters from a specific language. If you still experience issues with writing your language in the in-game chat please let us know so we can work on this.
The character name allowance has been improved as well. We now allow characters to be created again with a lot more characters and letters from specific languages.
The Steam friends system is now integrated in to the game. This means you can now see and invite any of your Steam friends from the game to come and play with you.
Added a tutorial slideshow for new players. This screen can be accessed by pressing F1 in either the main menu or in-game. There is separate screens for the different game-modes and there is separate screens for in the menu and in the game. We have also localized these screens although we are not 100% finished with the translations and all the screens yet. More will be added in future updates.

GAMEPLAY:

Added an option to enable / disable the automatic equip of gear and attachments when picked up or attached.
Picking up a better helmet will no longer automatically switch the gas mask when a player is inside the radiation zone or when a night vision is enabled.

SERVERS:

Support for Oceania servers has been added. This means this is now a new region added in the game. There is no servers running in this new region just yet but there will be a later specific announcement about this.

UPDATES:

Updated all Custom Guerilla Fallen Angel skins. We have reworked the wings just like we did on the Heavy Armor Fallen Angel skins. The wings look better, are in a better position and are more optimized.
Updated the skinbox icon for the Police Box. This box is legacy but the icon was never updated.
Updated the skinbox icon for the Halloween 2019 Box. This box is legacy but the icon was never updated.
Updated the skinbox icon for the Summer 2019 Box. This box is legacy but the icon was never updated.
Updated the skinbox icon for the Valentine 2020 Box. This box is legacy but the icon was never updated.
Updated the skinbox icon for the Winter 2019 Box. This box is legacy but the icon was never updated.
Updated the store icon and the recipe icon for the QBZ-95 Tech skin. This skin will also be added to the new Tech Skinbox.

FIXES:

Fixed the Heavy Armor Fallen Angel Chrome texture. The skin should now be properly chrome again.
Fixed the Heavy Armor BR Champion. It is now better rigged around the character and should fit any character better.
Fixed the Heavy Armor Fallen Angel Purple skin. The wings are now chrome again instead of white glowing.
Fixed the Heavy Armor Fallen Angel Desion skin. The wings are now chrome red-ish again instead of white glowing.
Rank skins now also apply to Battle Royale team wins.

REWORKS:

Reworked the store icon for the VSS Vintorez (sniper) & it's skinned variants.
Reworked the store icon for the VSS Compact & it's skinned variants.
Reworked the store icon for the Honey Badger & it's skinned variants.
Reworked the store icon for the QLB & it's skinned variants.
Reworked the store icon for the SVU & it's skinned variants.
Reworked the store icon for the Flashlight & it's skinned variants.
Reworked the store icon for the Hatchet & it's skinned variants.

FURTHER WEAPON STATS REWORK:
Continuing the guns rework, we have revisited prior changes we've made to SMGs and readjusted them to better serve their real purposes.
SMGs are made to be extremely powerful close combat weapons and they should not be strong at a high distance. The issue with their previous status is that, first of all, they had no pattern. Some were extremely strong at certain distances, while others were useless even at close range. Now, we've adjusted to make them at least a bit more logically similar (but not the same) as they all serve the same purpose.
Basically, we have adjusted damage, improved speed and spread while nerfing the damage distance on them. We also took into consideration each gun's fire-rate and clip size to make this fair. That way, they will adapt to your play style better and you will be inclined to use each one, depending on how you like playing (rushing and pre-firing, tap-shooting, waiting-and-shooting, spray-and-spray, etc. ).

LMGs needed a rework as well, however this is very delicate. LMGs's current main purpose and use is for farming, especially for killing super/alien zombies so we had to tread carefully here.

We cannot lower their damage or it will affect their current main use, which we don't want to hinder.
We also can't make it too precise as they are extremely powerful for automatic weapons, with very high damage.
We shouldn't leave them stuck only for extremely close combat.

So with these three things in mind, we have added the Spread Variation System to it, where the more you shoot the more spread it has, with a fair limit to it, so it also doesn't go to the sky.

Future tweaks may occur on these weapons in the near future, but for now, enjoy their new stats and try them out!

ADDITIONS:

Added a new healing item: Toilet Paper. This item won't be available straight away but will be part of a future upcoming event. The toilet paper works just like a bandage, it has animations and can heal the player when being used.
A new skinbox has been added: Tech Skinbox.
A new skin for the Heavy Armor has been added: Heavy Armor Tech. This skin will be inside the Tech Skinbox.
A new skin for the IBA has been added: IBA Tech. This skin will be inside the Tech Skinbox.
A new skin for the IMI Tar-21 has been added: IMI Tar-21 Tech. This skin will be inside the Tech Skinbox.
A new skin for the M107 has been added: M107 Tech. This skin will be inside the Tech Skinbox.
A new skin for the K. Style NVG has been added: K. Style NVG Tech. This skin will be inside the Tech Skinbox.
A new skin for the K. Style Helmet has been added: K. Style Helmet Tech. This skin will be inside the Tech Skinbox.

CALIWOOD (OW):

Fixed a terrain issue in the north of area the city.

GENERAL:

Improved the Battle Royale matchmaking system for faster games aka less queue time.
Reworked the Battle Royale queue UI screen.
Added a new option / button for Battle Royale players that want to play solo in a group Battle Royale game.
Decreased the Battle Royale game start-up time for less waiting for the players in the lobby.

ARIZONA V2:

Fixed some flying trees on the map.

Estimated patch size: Around 270-300 mb.

Patch ETA: Patch is rolling out as we speak.

Estimated downtime: Around 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Потребности в выживании у современного человека практически не осталось, но, несмотря на это, в глубине души большинство людей мечтает сбежать от скучной жизни, чтобы оказаться в какой-нибудь форс-мажорной ситуации и хотя бы немного развлечься.

Будем надеяться, что в будущем (ближайшем и не очень) апокалипсиса не случится, но в видеоиграх он встречается чуть ли не каждый месяц в тех или иных проявлениях. И отдельного внимания заслуживают онлайновые симуляторы выживания, в которых в полной мере раскрывается вся подлость и циничность человеческого существа.

Все это было в многострадальном DayZ, 7 Days to Die, H1Z1, и теперь мы можем это увидеть в новой Infestation: The New Z.

Впрочем, перед нами Infestation, поэтому подойдем к новинке без всяких предубеждений – возможно, разработчики исправили все недостатки и превратили игру в настоящий шедевр жанра MMO Survival?

При создании персонажа изначально доступны только три скина. Хотите большего разнообразия? Извольте заплатить вполне реальные деньги!

Прежде всего стоит понимать, что за возможность поиграть в The New Z не придется раскошеливаться – теперь это F2P-игра, и для того, чтобы начать выживать, вам теоретически не нужно платить деньги. Но это только в теории, поскольку в большинстве случаев разработчики условно-бесплатных проектов пытаются вытрясти из игроков деньги всеми возможными способами, и Infestation, увы, не стала исключением.

Дело тут даже не в донатах – они есть, хотя выжить в постапокалиптическом мире будущего без покупок во внутриигровом магазине вполне возможно. Проблема в том, что новинка навязчиво и постоянно предлагает что-то приобрести. Будь то скины для персонажей, быстрое оживление выжившего или возможность запустить другой режим игры.

Прямо как в какой-нибудь мобильной игре, после того как героя прикончат, вам придется ждать пару минут, после чего его можно будет оживить, снова заходить на серверы и играть. Ну а если вы не привыкли ждать и хотите мгновенного возрождения, то готовьте ~~наличные~~ безналичные. И все же, несмотря на подобные ограничения, для Infestation это огромный шаг вперед, ведь в The War Z ждать приходилось намного дольше, около часа.

А еще здесь можно возводить укрытия в виде подобных щитов, но толку от них немного – всяко лучше будет просто перемещаться по локации, а не стоять истуканом в одной точке, делая себя более уязвимым.

Но что насчет Open World-режима? Возможно, там Infestation показывает себя в полной красе?

Большинство вещей, необходимых для выживания типа еды, воды и оружия, можно купить за виртуальную валюту, которая начисляется за убийство зомби.

К сожалению, нет. Творение Fredakis AB представляет собой самый обычный онлайновый симулятор выживания, который только можно вообразить. Игрок появляется в случайном месте на небольшой локации, после чего ему предоставляется почти полная свобода передвижения. Цель всего одна – продержаться как можно дольше и сделать это не то чтобы просто. Основную опасность представляют вовсе не тупые зомби, а другие игроки, которые обычно при виде геймера-чужака открывают огонь на поражение.

Ну а смерть в играх подобного жанра штука очень неприятная, и Infestation – не исключение. После гибели персонажа все предметы безвозвратно пропадают из его инвентаря, и вернуть их будет уже нельзя, останется только выругаться, зайти на другой сервер и начать все с чистого листа.

От места старта зависит многое. К примеру, если вам сильно повезло, и ваш герой появился возле военной базы, разжиться оружием труда не составит, а значит и шансы на выживание заметно увеличиваются.

Хотя если прокачать рукопашный бой, то встречи с зомби будут не страшны и без оружия – пара ударов кулаком и ходячий мертвец превращается в мертвеца неподвижного.

Навыки навсегда останутся закрепленными за вашим персонажем, поэтому потерять их после смерти (как, к примеру, вещи) не получится.

Карта предельно микроскопична, поэтому свобода перемещения в Infestation: The New Z – вещь крайне искусственная: то и дело приходится упираться в невидимые барьеры по краям локации.

Единственное, что радует – на конфигурации уровня Intel Core i5-3570, 8 Гбайт ОЗУ и Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 новинка выдает стабильные семьдесят-восемьдесят кадров в секунду. Впрочем, впечатление от относительно хорошей оптимизации могут испортить периодические вылеты на рабочий стол и дисконнекты, которые разработчики пока не спешат исправлять.

Так получилось ли у Fredaikis AB за эти четыре года сделать игру лучше? К сожалению, нет. По сути, перед нами все тот же проект, но с немного измененным интерфейсом, основным достоинством которого является F2P-модель распространения.

Во всем остальном ~~The War Z~~ Infestation: The New Z – очень средняя игра, где можно от нечего делать убить время с друзьями, но надолго вы в ней не задержитесь, поскольку заняться в мире зомбиапокалипсиса попросту нечем.

Вердикт: смена вывески The War Z ожидаемо не помогла. Перед нами все тот же безыдейный симулятор выживания, играть в который можно разве что от скуки.
